Dunlop Flooring Takes Out Second Award for Site Safety Improvements

Following on from the success of the Dunlop Flooring Team at the recent Pacific Brands Cinderella Awards, where the business took out the Innovation Award for its fire prevention initiatives, the Dunlop Flooring Operations Team has yet again been recognised for their successes in reducing business risk.

Nominated as part of an impressive field including Coca Cola Amatil, One Steel, and Simplot, Dunlop Flooring Sunshine were awarded the Vero ‘RM Advancer 2008’ Achievement Award for significant risk reduction achieved across the Sunshine site.

The Dunlop Flooring business was nominated for the Achievement Award following a recent site risk management survey by Vero Insurance as part of its scheduled property reviews of Pacific Brands businesses.

During this review it was verified that utilising the BRANDSSAFE infrastructure the business and Safety Health Environment & Quality Team collaborated to identify and implement strategies to reduce the risk, including new foam crumbing hoppers; electromagnets for contaminant removal and spark detection; and upgrades to the fire suppression systems; and applied these across both the Victorian and New South Wales operations.

Additionally as part of the recent renovations at Sunshine, this site undertook to further reduce its Asbestos exposure through its removal.  Together these initiatives accounted for a > 25% reduction in risk over the 18 month period between surveys.

In taking out the award Dunlop Flooring Sunshine will receive a trophy and $5000 towards a site improvement project to be presented on-site to the Dunlop Flooring Sunshine team at a specially hosted BBQ.
